Sending Mail with Internet Mail

Configuring Internet Mail

1. There are two common ways to open the main Internet Mail window. You can go to Start -> Programs -> Internet Mail. Otherwise, open Internet Explorer and click on the mail button in the tool bar (last one on the right) if it's available. This opens a popup window and you can click on Read Mail.

2. If you have never used Internet Mail, it may prompt you to run through the Internet Mail Setup Wizard. To manually configure Internet Mail, go to the menu bar and click on Mail -> Options and then select the server tab.

Once everything is filled out, click OK.

Checking Mail With Internet Mail

To check mail, go to the menu bar and click on Mail -> Send and Receive or click on the Send and Receive button in the tool bar. Internet Mail will proceed to check for your mail (and maybe send messages) and all new messages will automatically be placed in your Inbox. Double click on a message to read it.

To create a new mail message, go to the menu bar and click on Mail -> New Message, or click on the New Message button in the tool bar. A New Message window will pop up. Enter the recipient's e-mail address and subject title when prompted. Compose your e-mail message. When you are done, click on the envelope button on the left of the tool bar to mail it or go to the menu bar, click on File -> Send Message. Messages will be sent immediately if you go to the menu bar in the Internet Mail window, click Mail -> Options, and check the 'Send messages immediately' box on the Send tab. If this box is not checked, when you try to send an email message it will be placed in the Outbox folder ready to be sent the next time you choose the Send and Receive command.

The above information is the bare minimum needed to set up your Internet Mail e-mail software. There are of course many other options and settings which the user is encouraged to experiment with. If you have any further questions, or comments, write us at support@channel1.com
